Description
Deep orange vanadinite crystals rest across a baryte matrix, showing a rich, gemmy colour and areas of darker manganese shimmer. The specimen measures H 8 cm × W 6 cm × D 4 cm and weighs 238 g. The vanadinite forms compact hexagonal crystals that contrast strongly with the paler baryte host. Manganese presence gives a subtle darker shimmer across parts of the piece, visible on inspection.
Mineral context
Vanadinite is a lead chlorovanadate mineral, Pb5(VO4)3Cl, that commonly forms hexagonal crystals in oxidised zones of lead deposits.
