Description
This deep purple Amethyst drusy fragment presents a dense, sparkling granular surface of small crystals sitting on a pale outer edge of matrix. The drusy field shows consistently saturated colour and a finely textured crystal face across the fragment. Measuring 14 × 6 × 6 cm and weighing 725 g, the piece is a compact example of drusy quartz with small yellowish spots visible on the crystal surface and a preserved pale outer margin of host rock. The form is a fragment rather than a full geode or free-standing cluster. Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz (SiO2); quartz commonly forms drusy linings and crystal coatings in cavities and nodules. This specimen’s Brazilian origin is indicated.
